He lied when he said the procedure was rare and only performed on severly deformed babies. He now says that he has made himself sick over lying about the number of partial-birth abortions, about the ages of the babies that were killed, and about the health of those babies and their mothers. Mr. Fitzsimmons acknowledged that there are many more partial-birth abortions performed then we are led to believe. He also indicated that they are performed on younger and healthier babies then was acknowledged.

This admission has caused quite a furror on Capital Hill where new legislation will be introduced to again ban this heinous procedure.

Henry Hyde, Chairman of House Judiciary committee, said it is time for the press, the public and the congress to hear the truth on what he called a grusome procedure: "There are many things in America that I an very proud of...there are a few things I am very very ashamed of...that we tolerate partial-birth abortions is something I am ashamed of" The GOP leadership expects vote before the easter break, but Clinton said he will veto it again.
